Join us on a walking tour of Riverside Cemetery, which covers 123 acres and has over a quarter million burials. We’ll stroll about 3/4 of a mile on flat ground. We’ll discuss the history and overall design of this cemetery and will visit some notable sites.
- Among them are a spectacular Egyptian-style mausoleum for the Kent family,
Featuring the graves of
- Elsa von Blumen (bicycle racer), - We do have a program on Elsa von Blumen in our Program Archives
- Zenas Westervelt (founded the Rochester School for the Deaf),
- Kate Gleason,
- the Hickok family (of Hickok belt fame),
- and others.
Meet just inside the Gate. Tour starts at 2:00 p.m.
Your tour leaders will be Cynthia Howk and Joanne Mitchell. Cynthia is retired from a career with the Landmark Society. Joanne has been a tour leader at Mount Hope Cemetery for over 15 years and really likes cemeteries.
