Biography

He was born in Connecticut in 1785 and was buried in Pittsford, New York in 1837. He was a director of the Bank of Rochester. Bushnell lived in Northampton during a period of rapid change, as the area evolved into Gates and later Greece. He co-owned the Guernsey & Bushnell Dry Goods Company with James K. Guernsey of Charlotte, operating a store that served as an important commercial and social center for the community. He was appointed Postmaster of the Charlotte Post Office, which was located within his store.
