Biography

James B. Castle was born about 1846, died on December 28, 1928, and buried in the Frisbee Family Cemetery. He was one of the three town assessors in the early 1900's to about 1915. His father Edward J. Frisbee owned 200 acres of land which is now the Frisbee Hill Road area.

In 1895 a petition is circulated for a town hall and a committee is named to look for a suitable location. Since 1822 the Board has met at homes of members or in various hotels. In 1897 Straub and Britton Roads are laid out at a cost of $300 each. Also started is an extension of Maiden Lane from Mount Read Boulevard to Dewey Avenue to be known as Forest Avenue.
