Biography

Elias Avery was born about 1800 in Connecticut. He owned a Hotel/Tavern (see image) near Ridge Road and Lake Avenue, where the earliest Town meetings were held. He was a U.S. Postmaster for Hanford’s Landing from about 1840 to 1853 and the Greece Town Clerk before 1851. He owned extensive farm property where Kodak Park developed.
