Program Description
A Park Named in Honor of Donald J. Riley
On Thursday, September 17, 2026, residents, officials, and community organizations gathered at Braddock Bay to dedicate Donald J. Riley Park, a lasting tribute to a life of service to the Town of Greece.
Donald J. Riley served as Supervisor of the Town of Greece and chairman of the Town Board from 1973 to 1989, a tenure that saw the Greece Police Department grow from 22 to 89 sworn officers, a multimillion-dollar flood control system built, and Route 390 extended to the Lake Ontario State Parkway. Among his lasting legacies is bringing Braddock Bay Park and Marina and about 2,000 acres of wetlands into Town ownership, making Braddock Bay a fitting place to bear his name.
The ceremony included remarks from local, county, and state leaders, a presentation of colors by the Ridge Road Fire Department Honor Guard, and the presentation of a commemorative plaque to Don Riley, who offered remarks of his own.
