Program Description

Recorded May 12, 2026

Join co-authors Marie Villone Poinan and Jo Ann Ward Snyder for an in-depth look at their four-year journey to discover the pioneer life of early settlers of the Town of Greece. Through interviews with descendants and extensive genealogical research, they traced family lines, examined records, gathered photographs and stories, and connected present-day families with the people who helped shape the early community.

This Greece Historical Society program explores the research behind the Pioneer Families project and highlights the value of preserving local history through family stories, documents, maps, census records, and shared memories. The presentation features examples from several pioneer family lines and shows how genealogy can bring names, places, and personal histories back into focus.
